Gibsonia resident Marcia Russotto's debut book, Always on Sunday: Memories of an Italian Childhood, is a love letter to her childhood in Sharpsburg during the 1950s and early '60s. With the help of friends, family and nostalgia, Russotto pieces together what it was like for her growing up Italian in a predominately Italian neighborhood with the warm summer days, the holiday gatherings, the family and the food - especially the food.

Just reading about these past meals gets the saliva glands working, but the real meat (pun intended) of the story comes after the personal memoir; the second half of Always on Sunday is a cookbook, providing the reader with the treasured family recipes: the cakes, cookies, soups, pastas and, yes, even the meatballs. Dig in.
